Xiaomi launches its second extractor hood: this time with gesture control

After launching its first extractor hood a little over a year ago, Xiaomi has today presented a new model that, although it maintains much of its same design, adds new technologies such as a gesture control system.

This is the new Xiaomi Mijia Smart Smooking S1, a decorative or vertical type extractor hood that with a mirrored tempered glass finish will give your kitchen a much more modern and technologically advanced look.

In detail, the new Xiaomi Mijia Smart Smooking S1 extractor hood has a size of 896x524x400mm and a weight of 23.9Kg. For its manufacture, Xiaomi has used high-quality materials such as aluminum and tempered glass to facilitate cleaning.

For its design, Xiaomi has once again opted for an inclination of 33º. Thanks to this, it is possible to extract the smoke in a more optimal way, at the same time that we can visualize the food that we are cooking more easily.

As far as performance is concerned, the new Xiaomi Mijia Smart Smooking S1 has a powerful 260W motor capable of generating suction power of up to 400Pa. Thanks to this, it is possible to move between 18 and 20 cubic meters of air per minute.

To all this, as a great novelty, is added a new control system through gestures. In addition to having various touch buttons on its surface, this new extractor hood is capable of recognizing various types of gestures, thus avoiding dirtying its surface with grease or oil stains.

Likewise, we are facing an intelligent bell. Thanks to its Bluetooth connection, we can remotely operate it through Xiaomi Home, that is, from our smartphone. Likewise, we can automate its operation based on other devices.

Price and availability

The price of this new Xiaomi extractor hood is 1,898 yuan, about 250 euros to change. At the moment, it will only be sold in China from September 3, making it very unlikely that it will reach the global market, at least officially.
