The Governing Board of the City of Huelva has approved the granting of the works license to the University of Huelva for the construction of multifunctional equipment on the Avenida de las Artes del Campus del Carmen, consisting of a new space 'COVID', aoutdoor classroom that will be located near the waters and sports slopes of the Campus, in an area that is currently used as a parking bag after Pavilion 7.
As stated by the mayor of Huelva, Gabriel Cruz, “we give green light to an action that contributes to the goal that we have marked, by the hand of the University, to provide Huelva with infrastructure that makes it more competitive from the point ofacademic view, promoting its positioning as 'University City'.Equipment of this nature, such as the university residence that will be built next to the Avenida de las Forces armed, make the campus more complete and dynamic, something fundamental to enhance our university as one of the fortresses and growth vector of the city ”.
This action is part of a set of interventions that the University is carrying out and that aim to allow a greater number of teaching activities abroad.“Without a doubt, the pandemic in which we remain immersed has valued the development of outdoor activities and the university is committed to it.El Carmen campus has broad and attractive open spaces, but it was necessary to provide it with certain infrastructure to carry out certain academic activities, ”said the rector of the UHU, María Antonia Peña.Thus, recently, three elements of textile architecture have been built on the campus, seeking to shade large spaces in the campus and, at present, the construction of a two streets and 800 meters long run for practice is being carried outof athletics.This outdoor classroom, a large sneaked space, "complements the previously indicated actions and will allow to carry out classes and other outdoor cultural activities," said the rector.
This first outdoor classroom at the University of Huelva has been projected and will be built taking into account the sustainability principles and, as it is a rolled wood structure, it will be used for its manufacturing wood with sustainable management of nearby forests with stamps with stampsof traceability and sustainability.The University of Huelva thanks to the City Council of the capital the speed with which this work license has approved.

The described equipment is located in an urban land in renovation belonging to the scope of the Special Plan No. 6 Campus del Carmen, within a macropocela for a teaching endowment, in which infrastructure and leisure and playful spaces are allowed as complementary uses.
