How to unclog the sink when the sink does not swallow the water or does it very slowly is the urgent question that anyone wants to answer when they find themselves in this situation. 1. Remove the siphon plug. Typically, sinks have a siphon connected to the drain. You will recognize it because it is a U-shaped piece that has a screw cap. Remove it and for a bucket below. The residues that cause the collapse will come out and when it is clean, put the thread back on. The water will run again.
2. With a plunger. It is the classic method and many times it is enough to end a traffic jam. In fact, since you don't have to disassemble anything, it is the one that is used first. Keep in mind that you must adjust the plunger well to the drain so that it creates a good vacuum and, consequently, fulfills its function.
3. Use vinegar and baking soda. These products are the most used in the kitchen as a home remedy to remove dirt. In this case, it also works for us. Add three tablespoons of baking soda and gradually add boiling water. Leave to act and then add more hot water directly from the tap. If it doesn't work, add another three tablespoons of baking soda and a glass of hot vinegar. Leave it for 15 minutes and pour water as hot as possible. If it works but the jam isn't completely cleared, repeat the entire process again.
4. Use a spring plunger. This measure is indicated for difficult cases. With a tool like this, the blockage is broken directly and it is the one that should be used when the blockage goes away from the siphon. Unscrew it, put the wire through the drain pipe, turning it and moving it so that it cleans the walls well. Rinse with plenty of water.

How to avoid traffic jams

Prevention is better than cure, so it is advisable to take some precautions so that traffic jams do not form. We already know that it is very tempting to throw organic waste down the pile but sooner or later... it will have consequences. For this reason, not only should we not do it, but it is advisable to use hot water when cleaning greasy pots, so that the fat is diluted and does not adhere. It also helps to use a quality dishwasher that effectively kills grease and, very importantly, to use drains with a grate that filters out solid debris from dishes and pans.
