Ana Vicente, from A Clareo, in the pet washing area, which has its own washer and dryer, as well as a bathtub with a shampoo, conditioner and flea dispenser. The service is in a separate space from the O Milladoiro laundry, with another four dryers and three washing machines; as well as free parking. Sandra Alonso
La Lavandería A Clareo opened its doors at the worst moment of all, in May 2020, in full confinement. They were "very hard" beginnings for the business of O Milladoiro (Ames), in which Ana Vicente and Moncho Vázquez invested a good part of their savings, thinking of having "a pleasant retirement," they say. The rianxeira, a neighbor of Biduído for more than 30 years, took over the car wash establishment taking advantage of a "place that we had stopped and without many options for someone to rent it", on a street with little traffic, Xaquín Lorenzo street . Although considered an essential service, "at first people did not come here because they were locked up in their homes", and "the perimeter closures also affected us a lot since part of the clients are from Teo."

Little by little, Ana is checking how the concurrency goes up. And she, far from waiting idly for the situation to end on its own, she has implemented a new and curious complementary service, taking advantage of a disused space in the same premises. For a couple of months they have, in an area independent from the rest, with a "lavacáns". Thus, from his laundry the same clients leave with the laundry as with the clean dog.
A Clareo Pets, he says, arose from the proposal of a technician who went to fix a breakdown: «Some people with animals came to wash their pets' accessories, including the beds. As it has cushions, the machine often stopped when spinning and it was a technician who told us that there are special washing machines that are anchored to the floor to avoid this problem when spinning. We then decided to set up a specific section, with its own washing machine, dryer and a place to bathe the furry ones as well”. Ana has two dogs (Pistón and Totó, an almost 10-year-old boxer and a "very affectionate and lively" mixed breed) and she thought it would be very practical to have the possibility of washing the pet while one waits for the laundry to be ready. "When we lived in an apartment we loved to bathe the dog, but then cleaning the bathroom was not so much fun," recalls Ana, who spent many years carrying the burden of household chores while her husband was on board. The bathtub for animals, in addition to hot water, has its own shampoo, conditioner and anti-flea, a dryer (with intense or moderate air) and a disinfection process for the machine at the end. The price is 6 euros for 10 minutes of effective time, since you can stop the countdown while you soap the animal. "It is usually more than enough time to bathe a medium-sized dog," they point out from A Clareo, where they also offer an exclusive covered parking space for customers.
