[CES 2022] Experts behind Samsung's latest products and technologies talk about innovating for the future ①

In the first part of this two -part series, Telly Lee, vice president of the Samsung Appliances Division, and Jujgrae Kim, of the Samsung Electronics visual screens division, will explain how Samsung designed their latest appliances and portable screens to adapt to adapt to adapt toThe evolution of user lifestyle.

Bespoke kitchen: appliances that evolve with the rhythm of users' lives

Q: What can you tell us about the products and technologies of appliances that will be presented in CES 2022?

We are going to focus on the presentation of the Kisspoke kitchen, on which refrigerators and colors will be unified with great effect.The Kispoke kitchen begins with our emblematic Bespoke refrigerators, as we expand the range to FDR (French door refrigerators) in the US market in 4 and 3 -door models.This represents an important expansion of our line after the launch of the Bespoke refrigerators in the 4 -door Flex types, Bottom Mount Frieza and 1 door column in 2021.

A unique point of innovation for Samsung's Refrigerator is the beverage center.With a hidden water dispenser inside the door, the beverage center offers a comfortable and hygienic solution that allows the equipment to have a smooth exterior.In addition to the new Bespoke refrigerators, we are also presenting other vibrant and colorful products that are part of the Bespoke kitchen, such as stoves and dishwasher.

Today we see that more and more users in the United States choose modern designs for their kitchens.With Bespoke, we want to show that it is possible to decorate your kitchen based on your personal tastes with a palette that includes colors that combine with your inner decoration, as well as accent colors.

In CES, we are also showing smartthings cooking, a service that introduces experiences connected to the kitchen.With this service, users can receive recipe recommendations and information to help them save time in preparation and kitchen.Smartthings Cooking recommends recipes that fit your tastes and diet, and then build personalized meal plans.

Q: What are some of the unique or attractive aspects of Bespoke's new offers that CES visitors cannot be lost?

First, I would like to highlight the expansion of the Bespoke range, which still provides options to choose users who seek their refrigerator to reflect their color and material preferences.From the launch of Bespoke in the United States in 2021, we have seen a continuous demand for this type of customization and meet this need is one of the reasons why we add the French Door refrigerator to our Bespoke 2022 line. The panels come in twelveColors, which means that there are more than 20,000 possible color combinations for a four -door refrigerator.I am sure that no other refrigerator offers customers so many options.

Another unmissable aspect is the characteristics.For example, the beverage center includes a 1.4 -liter autofill water jug and a dual car Ice Maker with capacity for 4.1 kg of ice.In addition, Flexzone offers five different temperature modes to maintain food, such as meat, seafood, fruit and vegetables, at an optimal temperature.These unique characteristics help offer greater comfort to the daily life of users.

Similarly, users can experience an even smarter kitchen with family hub, which is included in the last line of Bespoke refrigerators.Thanks to the big screen located on the front of the equipment, users can enjoy music and videos in the kitchen, in addition to controlling appliances and smart devices.With a display that is perfectly integrated into the door panel, and with a very aesthetic design and reduced frames, Bespoke Family Hub can be integrated into any space.

Last, but not less important, we present the Bespoke Atelier app, which we first launched in Korea for the world market.The application offers access to more than 170 works of art from artists from around the world, covering several times, trends and topics.It also recommends works of art and allows you to create your own gallery by customizing your visualization to adapt to your tastes.Also, when users see a work of art in listening mode, they can hear a description of art with subtitles.This makes you feel like in a guided tour of an art museum from the comfort of your kitchen.

Q: Our way of life has changed dramatically in the last two years and the technology that connects people is increasingly important, while the ways of doing without contact become the norm.What impact do you think technologies and products presented in CES 2022 in people's lives will have?

As users have begun to spend more time at home, their life has focused more on the home and we hope that this trend will continue in 2022. At the same time, concern for sustainability continues to increase by events such as the COP26 of the nations conferenceUnited and the reinforcement of environmental regulations worldwide.Given these changes in the lifestyle and interests of consumers, Samsung has worked to offer “personalized, more intelligent and sustainable” kitchen solutions.

Our personalized kitchen solutions are directed to users who spend a lot of time in their kitchen and have a greater desire to remodel their space to reflect their tastes.When expanding our Bespoke line, we offer a more diverse range of types of refrigerators and color options, which helps users to build unique kitchens that adapt to both their lifestyle and their interior design.

Spending more time at home has naturally increased cooking at home.To help this trend with “smarter” kitchens, Samsung presented Smartthings Cooking, a kitchen service as it does everything: from the search for recipes to the creation of a diet plan and food purchases.Driven by whisk food, smartthings cooking recommends recipes and personalized food plans based on your tastes, dietary needs and food you have by hand.The service also allows you to buy food comfortably in one place, with your favorite brands and available on the whisk network.When the time comes to cook, Smartthings guarantees a perfect cooking experience, while communicating directly with your Samsung smart cooking appliances.

In addition, with Family Hub users can even enjoy this service through the screen of their refrigerator or also control other appliances in it.

Finally, our cooking solutions are increasingly sustainable. "Bespoke refrigerators were built to provide high energy efficiency and their replaceable door panels help prolong their useful life.Samsung continues to innovate in this in front of looking for ways to incorporate vanguard technology into appliances, while still taking into account sustainability.

​​The Freestyle: the design of a screen that is not limited by space

Q: Could you explain how your team created the idea of The Freestyle?

Since the pandemic changed everyday life, our personal spaces are increasingly important.This is especially true in the places where we relax, such as the bedroom, where we see that more and more people use products to entertain.We also saw that there are more people who use welcoming and quiet spaces at home and that increased interest in spending time outdoors, for example camping.In this sense, we wanted to reflect these trends in our products and allow users to use them as they wish: at any time, anywhere and regardless of space limitations.This is how the personal and mobile intelligent projector that is The Freestyle.

Q: What are the unique points of The Freestyle?

The Freestyle was designed to offer users new levels of functionality and it is easy to see what differentiates this product just looking at it.So that we can take daily, we design The Freestyle to be light, with a weight of only 830 grams, so that the fact of being able to take it comfortably anywhere is its greatest advantage.

The Freestyle also has a simpler installation process, all you have to do is place it where you want and then turn it on, that's all.The Freestyle has automatic trapezoidal correction functions and automatic leveling, enabled by leading technology of the sector.These characteristics allow the device to automatically adjust its screen to any surface at any angle, providing a perfectly proportional image at all times.

Users can enjoy a continuous and interruption visualization experience by accessing their user accounts and the configuration of the main OTT services.In addition, we also include the first voice control technology of the sector.Thus, when the screen is on, users can look for content only with their voice;While when the screen is off, you can use the device to listen to music or ask for the time of the day, just as they would do with an intelligent horn.

The image and sound quality of The Freestyle, the most basic and important characteristics of any screen, also deserve a more detailed mention.We include the image quality engine of Samsung TVs, and the White Balance is automatically adjusted according to the color and tone of the wall on which the screen is projected.We also apply double passive radiators to produce deep and high quality serious.All this allows users to enjoy a film quality sound experience, wherever they are.

Q: In line with Samsung's vision "screens everywhere", The Freestyle can be used in several ways to achieve maximum comfort.What are some of the use cases of The Freestyle?

First, TJ Freestyle can be installed comfortably in the user's bedroom, while in bed, before falling asleep, you can use the integrated device support to move the wall screen to the roof and continue watching a movie in a wayMore comfortable.This projector can also be placed on the dining room table, transforming the room into a new space for entertainment.

To take advantage of this type of spaces, our developers created a new installation solution that we introduced to the product.Thanks to those efforts, users can also use the device on a table or on the ground when connecting to a standard E26 light plug. [1]An independent power supply or a cable connection is not necessary, so it can be used immediately.

For its food, The Freestyle is compatible with external batteries [2] that are compatible with USB-PD and a power of 50W/20V or higher, so users can take it anywhere, either travel or camp.When it is not used as a projector to project content, The Freestyle also provides an environmental lighting effect thanks to its environment mode and the translucent cover of the objective.

Thanks to the close collaboration with the MX (Mobile Experience) business of Samsung, we have equipped The Freestyle with a button that synchronizes it with the Galaxy devices.By just pressing a button, users can instantly use their galaxy device as a distance control.They can also use mobile access points when there are no available Wi-Fi networks.We develop this product paying even in the smallest details, everything for the device to be as comfortable and easy to use outdoors as at home.
