Google is preparing a new generation of one of its most successful products: the Chromecast. This simple device (and cheap, since it can be had for just 30 euros) has a single function, as simple as it is useful: it allows you to play streaming content from your smartphone or tablet on your home TV. In other words: turn your TV into a Smart TV.
Google intends to renew the device launched in 2020, known internally as 'Sabrina'. The new generation Chromecast receives the internal name of 'Boreal' and would use the same software as the initial Chromecast, Google TV. Although at the moment there is no official confirmation from Google, multiple media are advancing that it will be launched this year 2022, after the leak of the technical details of the latest APK (Android Application Package, that is, a package for the Android operating system) of Google.
Although still without official data, some of the best that the new generation Chromecast could present are already being discussed. This is the case of a possible improvement in screen resolution, offering higher quality due to better video compression, which is very interesting when using streaming services.

There is also talk of other improvements, such as a new remote control or a new processor. The new generation device would already be developed in California and is expected to include support for those technologies that are being standardized on televisions, something that the initial Chromecast does not allow.

We will have to wait for Google I/O, the annual developer conference held by Google in Mountain View, to learn about the company's plans for this year.
